From this group a branch went north along the Hudson into Canada where there is a Sineville today. One remained in New Jersey and another went into Pennsylvania. It is from this last branch that the Sines of WV have originated. William Sine and his two sons were in the Revolutinary War and were with Gen. Washington's army at Valley Forge. William the father of Christy was born in 1763 and was married to Miss Margaret Christy of Philadelphia. They had twelve (12) children. The sixth was Christy born in York, PA Jul 5, 1798. In 1814 William and family moved to Monongalia County WVA then Virginia. He died in 1842. Christy Sine decided to enter the ministry and in 1823 came to Hampshire County on an evangelistic mission. From this time on he was active in the ministry throughout Hampshire County, preaching often in Park's Valley, at Sandy Ridge, the old Christian Church at Concord(near Yellow Springs) and was a pastor of the Timber Ridge Christian Church and Later Ebenezer. His ministerial career as given in his personal journal, writen with a quill, forms a most interesting recital in the history of this section. A Memorial Church to his memory was still standing a few years ago on the border of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. His pen pictures of difficulties and trials, while seeking to spread the Gospel Message, read like the Apostles of old. His heroism and fortitude showed the spirit of thet rue pioneer. Daily he was in peril by land and river wading at times over his head as he was singing with his back turned, but the act was frustrated by several young men. Hungry and at times almost threadbare, he was still pressed on as an evangel, with a faith only God could reward. His letters are carefully written. His poems are dignified. He wrote articles for the religious press. He is mentioned several times in the life of Isaac N. Walter, in the records of the Valley Conferences of the Christian CHurch, and in other publications. He died in Hampshire County, February 14, 1858 and was buried in the cemetery at the Timber Ridge Christian Church. He had a large family. His first marriage was to Miss Margaret Kackley, daughter of Abraham Kackley, May 15, 1825.(born May 1605 and died Dec 25, 1839_. She sleeps by the side of her husband on Timber Ridge. To his family a rich heritage of integrity, industry and the helpful wisdom of over 80 years. He passed to his reward at Highview on August 14, 1908 and is buried at Timber Ridge Christian Church, of which he was a life long member. On December 4, 1851, he married Mis Margery Almira Spaid, daughter of Frederick and Priscilla, Capper Spaid. Her ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War. Through the Kales("Cales", as recorded in Richmond, Va)who lived on Capon River near Hooks Mills, her descendants have the privelege of membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. The Capprs had obtained a large grant of land on Timber Ridge from Lord Fairfax and George Washington was the sureyor.
