| 1772/73 Burr Calvert Alias Harrison Indenture - first of two
THis identive made the eighteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hudnred Seventy-three and in the thirteenth year of his Majesty reign between Jeremiah Williams Sr., of Craven County, and South Carolina of the one part and Burr Calvert Alias Harriss of the said County and province of the other part, whereas for and by a grant bearin gdate the fifth day of June, one thousand seven hudnred and fifty three, and in the twenty seventh year of reighyn of our Sovereign Lord given under the hand of his Excellency the right Honorable James Glen Capt. General, Governor over our province of South Carolinaand the great seals of the province for that purpose. Did give and grant unto Jeremiah Williams, Senior, a platnation or tract of land containing three hundred acres, being and lying in the fork of the Broad and Saludy River on branch of second Creek and with vacant land on all sides and hat such shapes and form, and marks as appear by a plat thereof to the original grant, anseed as in and by the plat and form, duly recorded in the Secretary's office of the said province, (Recorded in Book P.P. Folio 140)Reference thereunto being had, may more fully and at Large appease non this indenture, Witnesseth that the T. Jeremiah Williams, Senior for and in consideration of the Sum of Four Hundred pounds Current MOney of the R. Province to him for hand payed by the said Burr Calvert Alias Haarris whereof he Doth hereby acknowledge to be well contented, Satisfied, and payed, hath granted, bargained and Sold alin, remised, released, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth bargain, sell a line, and release, convey and confirm unto the T. Burr Calvert, Alias Harris[*** note this name!!! oh 6's and 8's--deb] for his actual profession now being anexed virtue of a bargain and Sole to him made for one whole year by force of statute transferring of uses into and to his heirs and assigns for every T Tract of land containing three Hundred acres together with all and singular the Houses, Edifices, Buildings, Yards, Gardens, Orchards, Woods, Underwoods, Timberways, water, water courses, Liberties, priveleges, Heriditaments, rights, members and appurtenances whatsoever there unto belong or in anywise rights forever and profits thereof and every part thereof and all Estate title and titles of interest use proper profit, benefits and demand whatsoeverof him the T. Jeremiah William Senior, of into or of and the rights whatsoever touching or concering the same premises or any part as aforesaid with every the premises and appertinances thereunto belong before granted, Released and confirmed unto T. Burr Calvert Alias Harris, his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper and absolute use and behalf of him the T. Burr Calvert Alias his heirs and assigns forever and the T. Jeremiah williams doth hereby for himselfhis heirs, executors, administrators and assigns. Doth Convenant promise and agree to and with said, Burr Calvert Alias his heirs and assigns in manner and for ?? following that is to say that the said Jeremiah Williams now is and unto the execution of these Presentshall stay Seized of a good free and indefensable estate of inheritance in fee simpl of an doin all the afore T. Tract of three hundred acres of land wiht the rights, members and appurtenances with out any manner of Condition Interest, Mortgages, Jdgement or Cumbrances whatsoever to alter Changes or Determine the same and all so that the T. Burr Calvertr Alias Harris his heirs, and assigns shall and may from time to time, peaceably and quietly have hold and enjoy the T. Tract of three Hundred acres of land with aevery the premises and appertances therunto belonging without any manner of trouble, interruption or denial of him, the said T. Jeremiah Williams, his heirs and assigns and all and of every other person or persons whatsoever and lastly the T. JEremiah Williams for himself his heirs, executors, administrators the T. Tract of three hundred acres of land with the premises and the appurtenances unto the T. Burr Calvert, Alias Harris his heirs and Assigns and agaisnt him the T. Jeremiah Williams, his heirs and Assigns and all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents in witness whereof he and the T. Jeremiah Willima hath hereunto set his hand and seal first above written. Signed, Sealed and Delivered in presence of William Dawkins, Abel Anderson, his Obed Harris. Jeremiah x Williams mark So. Carolina Craven County Personally William Dawkins and DEclared on his oath deposeth and saith that he was present and did see Jeremiah Williams, sign, Seal and as his act and Deed Deliver this Instrument of writing and Lease and Release unto Burr Calvert, Alias Harris for the uses , intents and Purposes therein mentioned as also the Receipt for the Consideration money hereon Indorsed and that himself Abel Anderson and Obed Harris, subsribed their Names as Witnesses to Both in Presence of the parties and each other. x Sworn to before me this 20th Day of Feb. 1773 Mich.
